I’m travelling with my enviro Visa card. What do I need to know?

This article is meant to outline some more information specific to travelling with your Visa card.

  1. You should continue to receive both types of alerts via text internationally. Incoming texts are based on your cell phone provider and may not be received if roaming is turned off.
  2. You will always receive email alerts while travelling, as long as you’re opted in for email alerts and your email address on file is up to date.

You may use your Visa card at any ATM in the world where the Visa symbol is displayed to obtain a Cash Advance.
You will need your PIN # to complete an ATM Transaction.

Certain fees and interest will apply to any Cash Advance you make.

There may also be additional fees that are charged if you use an ATM, for example, a fee charged by the ATM operator. You should keep the ATM receipt as a record of your ATM Transaction.

We are not responsible for any delay, inconvenience or loss that you may experience as a result of the breakdown or malfunction of an ATM.

Some companies (e.g. many Irish car rental agencies and some agencies in Israel) may require additional proof of Insurance to decline the Collision/Damage Waiver (CDW) or its equivalent to take possession of the rental vehicle.

You are not required to notify Vancity of your travel plans if you will be using your credit card or debit card while away from home. Vancity’s fraud detection systems monitor your account to protect you against suspicious transactions, however, it is still your responsibility to review your transactions regularly and notify us promptly if you see anything unusual. Please ensure that your contact information is up to date in the event we may need to reach you at home or while travelling.

If you are outside Canada or the U.S., call toll-free at IAC-800-500-0707-0 (IAC = International Access, varies by country).
Once you let us know that your Visa card has been lost or stolen or that your Visa card or Visa Account is being used without your authority, you will not be responsible for any transactions completed with your Visa Card after that.
