Google Pay

With Google Pay, there’s no need to dig for your wallet—you can pay with your phone or smartwatch wherever contactless payments are accepted. Google Pay is the fast, simple way to pay at millions of places – in stores, online, and in apps. It helps you keep all your payment methods organized and protects your info with multiple layers of security. When you use your Vancity enviroTM Visa* credit card and Vancity MEMBER CARD ® debit card with Google Pay, you’ll continue to enjoy all the same rewards, benefits, and protections that come with it.

There are a number of benefits to using Google Pay:

  • You can use Google Pay anywhere you can tap your credit card, so you can choose to leave your wallet at home.
  • As an extra measure of security, Google will never share or store your original card numbers.
  • You can see your 10 most recent Google Pay transactions right on your phone, which makes it a convenient way to track your spending.

Google Wallet is actually safer than your physical wallet. It keeps your cards, passes, and other essentials safe with advanced security features from Android phones, like 2-Step Verification, Find My Phone, and more. When you tap to pay with your Android phone or smartwatch, Google Pay never shares your actual card number with the business, so your payment info stays safe. And for added security, set up your phone so that it must be unlocked to complete any contactless transaction. Learn more on the Google Wallet Help center. Plus, with easy-to-use privacy settings, you’re in control of who sees and uses your data. Google Wallet does not sell your personal info to anyone and doesn’t share your transaction history with the rest of Google for targeting ads.
If your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can lock and erase it with Find My Device. You can also call our 24/7 Card Services at 1-800-611-8472 for help.

It uses the same technology that allows you to ‘tap and go’ with your physical card. Check to see that your phone has NFC turned on (near field communication). If you are using Google Pay for the first time with a new credit card you may be required to sign or enter your PIN with your physical card before your first Google Pay transactions.

Google Wallet connects directly to your Vancity enviro Visa card account and and your MEMBER CARD® Debit card accounts. You don’t need to add money to Google Wallet to make a purchase. All you need to do is add your Vancity enviro Visa card and your MEMBER CARD® Debit card to Google Wallet, and then you can use Google Pay just like how you would normally use your card.
You will be able to view your transactions right in the Google Wallet App by selecting the appropriate card then selecting Details > Activity. Your transactions will also appear on your Visa statement and on creditcards.vancity.com, like any other Visa purchase. You should always refer to your Visa statement and not the Google Wallet app in case of disputes or transactions not visible in your Google Wallet app. To view your purchases on your MEMBER CARD® Debit cards, log in to your online banking and select your account that is connected to the MEMBER CARD® Debit card in your Google wallet (Example: Chequing Plus). Scroll to the bottom of the page to view recent transactions.
Card art should automatically update when you change to a new enviro Visa card. If this does not update, please delete and re-add the card to your Google Wallet application.
