How do I set up Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) direct deposit to receive government benefits in my Vancity account?

We know it’s important for members who need benefit payments like the Canada child benefit, GST credit, and income tax refund to get those payments quickly.

Same goes for our business members who need benefit payments of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and refund of payroll deductions.

Working with our partners, we now have a fast, convenient and secure way for members to sign up in online banking and receive any amounts to be paid to you by the Canada Revenue Agency.

We are here to help you set up direct deposit with CRA for the first time or to change your existing direct deposit information at another financial institution to your Vancity account. This will replace all previous CRA direct deposit authorizations for individuals and only your payroll account (RP) for businesses.

Use online banking (desktop) to complete the set up at your convenience. If you require assistance with online banking, please call us at 604.877.7000 or 1.888.826.2489 or visit your nearest community branch

If you are a business member using Online Business Plus, please go to the CRA website to enroll for direct deposit.

 

  1. Log in to your account
  2. In the menu, select More
  3. In the submenu, select CRA Direct Deposit enrolment
  4. Select the account you would like the funds to be deposited into
  5. Enter your Social Insurance Number
  6. Check off your authorization to let Vancity share your banking information with the CRA for the purpose of establishing or changing direct deposit.
  7. Click Continue
  8. Review the information
  9. Click I Agree

  • Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB)
  • Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB)
  • Income tax refund
  • Goods and services tax / Harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit and any similar provincial and territorial payments
  • Canada child benefit (CCB) and similar provincial and territorial payments
  • Canada workers benefit (CWB)
  • Deemed overpayment of tax

Using the online process, the direct deposit information will take up to 2 business days to appear in your CRA account.

No action is required, you will continue to receive any amounts to be paid to you by the CRA to your existing account at Vancity or other financial institution.

If you wish to make a change to your existing CRA direct deposit information, complete the set up using online banking and any amounts to be paid to you by the CRA will be directly deposited to your Vancity account. This will replace all previous CRA direct deposit authorizations.
