Primary Cardholders and Account Administrators: There are two options to activate your card 1) Online through the Manage my Visa card website 2) over the phone using the number found in your welcome package.
Authorized Users: Activate your card using the phone number found in your welcome package. Online activation is not available.
- Go to your Online Banking or Vancity app, log in, and navigate to your card.
- Choose ‘Activate card’ from the menu dropdown.
Once you have activated your card you will also receive an e-mail to the address on file confirming that your card has been activated.
Phone Activation (all cardholders)
- Call 604-877-4999 or toll-free 1-800-611-8472, available 24/7.
- You’ll be asked to enter the 16-digit account number plus the date of birth and phone number associated with the account.
To activate the “Tap to Pay feature” on your card, your first two transactions will need to be done by inserting your card into the chip and PIN terminal. The first transaction you will need to sign for and cannot be a cash advance at an ATM. The second transaction you will need to enter your PIN. Once this has been done your card is all set up to be used by “tapping” your card.

Information about your Personal Identification Number (PIN #)
New Cardholders: You will need to set up a new PIN # to activate your card by phone. A PIN Mailer will be sent to the Primary Cardholder’s home address two to three days before you receive your new Card.
The PIN Mailer contains instructions on how to set up a PIN #.
Existing Cardholders: You will not receive a new PIN # unless your card has been lost or stolen. You can update your PIN # through the Manage my Visa card website.
Primary Cardholders or Account Administrators, can change your PIN # online through Online Banking or the Vancity app or over the phone.
To change your PIN # online:

- Go to your Online Banking or Vancity app, log in, and navigate to your card.
- Choose ‘Change PIN’ from the menu dropdown.
- Enter your new PIN, confirm your PIN and select ‘Submit’ to update your PIN #
Authorized Users can update your PIN # by calling 604-877-4999 or toll-free 1-800-611-8472. You will not be able to update your PIN # online.
