Which cards are eligible to earn Vancity Rewards points?

If you’ve chosen an enviro Visa card with the Vancity Rewards option, you’ll earn points for every purchase you make with your Visa card.

Eligible enviro Visa cards include:

How can I earn Vancity Rewards points?

You can earn Vancity Rewards points by using your eligible enviro Visa card for everyday purchases and your monthly recurring bill payments. Vancity Rewards gives you the flexibility to redeem points for what you love, whether it’s cash back^‡, travel, charitable donations or, gift cards. You can even use your points to make a payment towards your enviro Visa account balance.

If you have an enviro Visa Gold card, you’ll also earn bonus reward points on your first purchases and on your card’s anniversary. If you have an enviro Visa Business card, you’ll also earn bonus reward points when you spend at least $1,000 in each statement cycle.

How do I redeem my Vancity Rewards points?

You can redeem your Vancity Rewards points online or over the phone.

Online: Log into the Manage my Visa card website, select ‘Explore your rewards’ to access the rewards website.

Phone: Call the Vancity Rewards Service Centre toll-free at 1-866-661-3377. They’re available:

Cash back and charity support – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Travel and gift card support – 6 am to 6 pm Pacific Time, 7 days a week
Cruises and vacation packages support – 5 am to 3 pm Pacific Time, Monday to Friday

What’s the minimum point redemption?

Minimum redemption amounts start at 2,000 points ($20 rewards value) for some cash back options and charity and 2,500 points ($25 rewards value) for gift cards.

How long does it take to process and deliver my Vancity Rewards cash back, charity, or gift card redemption?

Processing and delivery timelines vary depending on the type of Vancity Rewards redemption. Please see the table below for more details.

Why do I keep getting a message telling me I can’t redeem my Vancity Rewards points at this time?

There could be a few reasons why you’re not able to redeem your points at this time. For example, it could be related to the status of your Vancity Visa account. For assistance, please call Card Services at 604-877-4999 or toll-free 1-800-611-8472.

Transferring points

Can I transfer points between my enviro Visa accounts?

Yes. If you’re the Primary Cardholder of more than one Vancity Visa account and each account is in good standing, you can transfer points between them by calling 1-800-611-8472. These accounts must be under the same Primary Cardholder. For example, if you have an enviro Classic Visa card and enviro Gold Visa card, you can consolidate points from both rewards accounts into one.

Can I transfer my points to the Primary Cardholder of a different enviro Visa account?

No. Primary cardholders can only transfer points between their own Vancity Visa accounts. For example, you can’t transfer points from your account to your sister’s account if she is the Primary Cardholder of a different Vancity Visa account.

Cardholders cannot transfer points between Vancity Visa and Vancity Community Investment Bank Visa card accounts.

Can I transfer points earned from other points programs?

No. Points earned through other reward programs, credit card companies, banks or credit unions can’t be transferred to Vancity Rewards.

Please note that your monthly statement includes a record of your points balance up to your billing date. Any points earned after the billing date are included in next month’s statement. This billing date is subject to change without notice.

Do I need to register for the Vancity Rewards program to earn and redeem points?

No. If you have an enviro Visa card that earns reward points, you’ll automatically be enrolled into Vancity Rewards program and will be able to redeem points over the phone.

To redeem points online, you’ll need to make sure your Visa card account is registered online on Manage my Visa card at creditcards.vancity.com.

If I close my enviro Visa account, can I still use my remaining Vancity Rewards points?

No. Once your enviro Visa account is closed, your Vancity Rewards points are no longer valid and are cancelled immediately.

What happens to my points if I switch from an enviro Visa account with rewards to one without rewards?

If you decide to change from a points earning Visa card to a card that does not earn points, you will have 90 days after the change was made to redeem any points you earned before the change. You cannot earn any points after the change and will lose any points that remain after the 90 day period.

What is an Authorized Redeemer? How do I add them to my account?

An Authorized Redeemer can redeem reward points on the Primary Cardholder or Account Administrator’s behalf. They do not need to be an Authorized User.

Only Primary Cardholders, Authorized Signatories and Account Administrators can add Authorized Redeemers to the Visa account. When an Authorized Redeemer is added to the account, they are being granted permission to redeem Vancity Rewards points over the phone through the Vancity Rewards Service Centre.

How to add an Authorized Redeemer:

Log into Manage my Visa card at creditcards.vancity.com
Select ‘Explore your rewards’ from the points balance banner to access the Vancity Rewards website
From the menu, select ‘My profile’ from the drop down next to your profile photo
Select ‘Add Authorized Redeemer’
Complete the form to add an Authorized Redeemer
The Authorized Redeemer will need to call the Vancity Rewards Service Centre at 1-866-661-3377 for verification purposes before they can redeem points on your behalf. Please note the Authorized Redeemer can only redeem points over the phone and not through the rewards website.

You can also call the Vancity Rewards Service Centre at 1-866-661-3377 to add Authorized Redeemers.

Are there any reasons why I would not be able to earn or redeem points?

If your Visa account is not in good standing or if it has been suspended, you may not be able to earn and/or redeem your reward points.

If your enviro Visa account is suspended
We may at any time suspend your account under the terms and conditions of the Vancity Credit Card Agreement, including if we suspect illegal, unauthorized or fraudulent use of the Visa Account. If your account is suspended, you will not be able to earn or redeem points during the suspension. If your account is restored, you will once again be able to earn and redeem points.

If your enviro Visa account is not in good standing
If your account is past due for 30 to 60 days, you will stop earning points but will still be able to redeem them. If your account is past due for 61 to 180 days, you will stop earning points and will not be able to redeem them. If your account is not brought back to good standing within 180 days past the due date, your account will be closed, and your points will be cancelled immediately. If you bring your Visa account back into good standing prior to it being closed, you’ll be able to start earning and redeeming points.

What happens to a cardholder’s points if they pass away?

If the Primary Cardholder’s account is in good standing and paid for in full, someone who is authorized to deal with their estate (such as an executor) may redeem their points by calling us at 1-866-661-3377. Point redemptions must be made within 90 days of the date of the death and we may ask for additional information.

Some merchants may sell these products/services or are separate merchants who are located on the premises of these merchants, but are classified by the Visa credit card network in another manner, in which case the accelerated earn rate will not apply.
² You will receive an additional 1,000 Vancity Rewards points (“Spend Bonus”) when you spend $1,000 or more in eligible purchases within a statement period. The Spend Bonus will be credited to your account within 3 business days after the end of your statement period so long as the spend criteria has been met. Cash advances, cash-like transactions, interest charges and fees are not eligible purchases for the Spend Bonus, and any returned items, refunds, rebates or other similar credits on any eligible purchases resulting in the spend criteria not being met will reduce or cancel the Spend Bonus in Vancity’s sole discretion.
