How do I return an item purchased using Apple Pay in a store?
Returning an item purchased using Apple Pay is similar to returning an item purchased using your physical debit or credit card. The cashier may need to look at the last four digits of the card that was used to purchase the item or the Device Account Number, which can be found on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Certain stores may only be able to process your return using your physical card, or by cash. Anytime you make a purchase, it’s always a good idea to inquire about the store’s return policies.
To return an item using your iPhone:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone and select ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’ and the card to view the last four digits of your card and initiate the return. You may have to provide the store with the last four digits of your unique Device Account Number.
- Hold your iPhone close to the debit/credit card reader and accept the return by entering your passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
To return an item using your Apple Watch:
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and select ‘My Watch’, ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’ and the card to view the last four digits of your card.
- Double-tap the side button of your Apple Watch and hold it close to the card reader to accept the return.
