Your non-registered chequing or savings account will be considered as inactive if you have not used it between 12 months and up to 10 years. It will continue to remain open and may be charged a monthly service fee, depending on the account type you have.
You will receive a notice when your account is close to 10 years of inactivity explaining:
- how to re-activate your account
- how to close your account
- when to respond by if you require us to act on your behalf
- and where your funds will go
After 10 years, funds less than $100 will be moved to a centralized account at Vancity; funds $100.00 and over are sent to BC Unclaimed Property Society.
You can re-activate your account at any time up to ten years of inactivity by initiating a transaction on your account.
