You received these notices because some of your Vancity accounts are “inactive”. This simply means that you have not made a transaction on those accounts for one year.
If these accounts remain inactive for another year, they will become dormant and each account will be charged a $2 dormancy fee each month they are dormant.
To avoid being charged a dormancy fee, all you need to do is re-activate the accounts by making a transaction on them. You can deposit, transfer or withdraw money from a branch or Vancity ATM; or make a transaction through online, mobile or telephone banking.
To ensure the accounts remain active, you need to make at least one transaction on each account every year. Please note: accruing interest on an account is not considered a transaction.
If the inactive accounts no longer meet your needs, please visit your branch or call us at 1.888.826.2489.
You may also have Vancity accounts that ARE active – those are not affected by the dormancy notice.
